Exeter City have confirmed the signing of 18-year-old goalkeeper Nick Jordan (pic above) from Portsmouth.
Jordan`s recruitment on a one year contract is an intriguing one, with City already boasting two potential first choice keepers in Paul Jones (certain to start at Darlington) and veteran Andy Marriott.
It would seem like quite an indulgence to keep all three at the club, so presumably one of the trio is set to be sold, released or - maybe most likely - loaned out.
Nick Jordan - Aldershot born, but raised in Portsmouth - was fourth in the pecking order at Pompey behind Devon`s own David James, Jamie Ashdown and loanee Asmir Begovic.
The recruitment of QPR`s 16-year-old keeper Liam O`Brien left him looking elsewhere.
In August 2006, Jordan was an unused sub at the age of just 16 in Pompey`s opening day win against Blackburn. But he never got the chance to don the gloves in anger.
Our friends at Vital Portsmouth insist that we've got ourselves a good keeper who was well regarded at Fratton Park.
They are also certain that he`ll have benefited hugely from working for two years with Paul Hart and, alongside England keeper David James, with Portsmouth goalkeeping coach David Coles.
'Hart and Coles are two of the best in the business', said the Charity Shield bound Vital Pompey crew. 'They and Jamo will have helped him a great deal'.
