Tisdale Reflects On Exeter Defeat

Paul Tisdale could only be philosophical following Exeter's 6-1 home defeat at the hands of Chesterfield.

The manager was clearly disappointed by the scoreline but was still pleased with how his players performed: 'I think you have to be philosophical and I am,' Tisdale told BBC Radio Devon. 'It appears to be a very bad night for us and we made some mistakes but I have a real mixture of feelings.

'I'm very disappointed with the result, but very pleased at the way the players tried to play the game. They tried to play football right to the end.

'Tonight was a night when the mistakes became more mistakes and those mistakes promoted more mistakes again.'

He did however have praise for Chesterfield, he added: 'We came up against a side that were very well drilled and had a real plan against us and we had one or two flaws in our game and they capitalised.

'But we made them look very good and we made ourselves look very bad and actually that's not the case, that's not a fair reflection of how we are at the moment.'

Exeter face Chester on Saturday and he is looking forward to seeing how his troops respond, although he feels the defeat will make his side stronger: 'I'm looking forward to Saturday because it's going to be a real test for us and I think we will come out stronger for this.'
