Cheltenham Town have revealed that play-maker Alex Russell will hold talks with Exeter over a loan move.
The Grecians tried to sign the 35-year-old last summer following his departure from Bristol City but he signed a two year deal at Cheltenham.
This exciting revelation was revealed in the Western Daily Press this morning and Russell seemed very keen to move back to Devon where he spent four years with Torquay.
He told the Western Daily Press: 'I spoke to Exeter last summer and they were very keen, so I know what they are all about.'
'They are doing well in the league and maybe they want to strengthen for the final promotion push, but it all augurs well.'
'I have some good friends there too, like Marcus Stewart and Ryan Harley, and I have taken an interest in them this season because of that and the interest they showed in me.'
Cheltenham are currently 12 points adrift and have lost six games on the spin in League One. Russell missed their 3-1 defeat on Tuesday night but manager Martin Allen wants him off the payrole as they face financial troubles.
Russell has made 24 appearances this season scoring one goal. But he really made his name at Bristol City where he spent 3 seasons following his move from Torquay.
He scored 6 goals from the club before moving onto Northampton and then Cheltenham.
