Another dire home performance from the Imps, in all but defence, typified the shambles of 2008-09. Exeter, 2nd in the table were easily contained and looked pretty ordinary until the nil nil nullification was broken by an 88th minute own goal.
Burch almost literally flushed his clean sheet bonus down an Imp stand lavatory as he allowed a shot to go passed him, hit the post and then bounce in off him. Sums up a season of comedy and error where all but the die-hard audience no longer stick around for the jokes. Bad luck, farcical football and 11 characters huffing and puffing against a wall of bricks, will only work for a while like any pantomime. The goodies are traditionally the home side so it is not going to work if the baddies sneak a point or win each and every time.
