A 1-0 victory over Rotherham on Saturday not only secured promotion into League One for Exeter, but secured this as League Two runners-up.
Manager Paul Tisdale admits that his side went about things the hard way in the match at Rotherham: 'The last 20 minutes were torture actually,' Tisdale told the media. 'We did it the hard way by missing a penalty when we could have made it safe.
'But we got our goal and we won and we knew if we won we were up no matter what happened anywhere else.'
Victory ensured that Exeter secured a second successive promotion following last season's Blue Square Premier promotion via the play-offs, and Tilson has praised this achievement, adding: 'It's a great achievement for us, back to back promotions and we were in Division One. It's going to be tough though next season, but we'll enjoy our promotion before we discuss next season.'
