Trialists feature in goal glut

Daniel Nardiello bagged a hat-trick as an Exeter City reserve side that included three trialists routed Plymouth Argyle 7-0.

Nardiello was joined on the score sheet by Scott Bennett, Billy Jones and James Norwood in a one sided game at St James` Park.

The three players trialling for City were goalkeeper James Wood and defenders Kallum Keane and Bertrand Mignot.

Wood is a Welsh-born stopper and began his career at Cardiff City before being snapped up by Premier League Manchester City in 2009. He is the son of former Scotland keeper George Wood. Despite a growing reputation Wood`s development has stalled somewhat and now finds himself on trial with the Grecians.

Keane was on the books at Derby County before being released and signing for Conference North side Alfreton Town in February. Keane has now played two reserve games for City.

Mignot is a French player who has been with Auxerre since 2006 but will be looking for a new club this summer.

Clearly with an eye on next season Paul Tisdale has began bringing in trialists. Last weeks reserve game at Forest Green Rovers saw young American Devann Yao get a run out for City.
