League one round-up - Exeter 0-2 Bournemouth

League one round-up: 17th September 2011

The latest weekend of the football league season has been and gone, the npower league one is rounded-up in this article.

Brentford 1-3 Preston
Defeat was tasted by Brentford at home as they slipped to a 3-1 loss against Preston.

Mellor's (10) early opener for Preston was cancelled out by McGinn (21) but Hume (32) restored the visitors lead before the break, with Mellor (73) adding his second in the 2nd half.

Chesterfield 4-1 Carlisle
An impressive 4-1 home win was secured by Chesterfield over Carlisle.

Clarke (3) gave the hosts an early lead but Miller (20) levelled for Carlisle. Another from Clarke (26) soon restored the lead with a hat-trick completed by Clarke (51) early in the 2nd half. Westcarr (65) rounded off the scoring.

Exeter 0-2 Bournemouth
Another defeat was felt by struggling Exeter against Bournemouth, with The Grecians losing 2-0 at home.

Goals in either half from Thomas (38) and an own goal from Duffy (90) decided the outcome.


Hartlepool 3-0 Bury
Hartlepool overcame Bury, who have been shipping a lot of goals recently, 3-0 at home.

Veteran Solano (33) opened the scoring with a double from Nish (51 & 74) added to this.

Leyton Orient 1-3 Oldham
A lead was lost by Leyton Orient as they went down 3-1 at home against Oldham.

Porter (18) gave Orient a lead, which was held into half time, but 2nd half strikes from Kuqi (49), Reid (65) and Smith (89) turned the game around.

MK Dons 1-1 Huddersfield
The points were shared at the stadium:mk with MK Dons and Huddersfield playing out a 1-1 draw.

Arfield (37) gave Huddersfield a half time lead although Dons captain Lewington (65) ensured the points were shared with a 2nd half goal.

The Dons played the final minutes with only 10-men after MacKenzie (85) was sent-off.

Rochdale 2-3 Charlton
Having squandered a two goal lead Charlton were still able to secure a 3-2 away win at Rochdale.

Hollands (20) and Wiggins (44) had Charlton 2-0 up at half time but two goals in three 2nd half minutes from Grimes (57) and Ball (60) brought Rochdale level. With time running out Hollands (80) struck again to win the game for The Addicks.

Sheffield United 3-0 Colchester
Sheffield United secured a comfortable home win over Colchester.

Early 1st half goals from Evans (3) and Porter (12) had The Blades in control by the half time break. Quinn (72) added another to secure the 3-0 win at Bramall Lane.

Stevenage 0-2 Notts County
Notts County proved too strong for Stevenage as they came away with a 2-0 away win.

A goal deep into 1st half injury time from Hughes (45+3) was added to with another from Burgess (50) early in the 2nd.

Tranmere 2-0 Wycombe
Home advantage was enough for Tranmere as they ran out 2-0 winners over Wycombe.

An early goal in either half from Showunmi (9) and Taylor (60) proved the difference.

Walsall 2-2 Scunthorpe
Walsall twice let a lead slip against Scunthorpe, with the points shared after a 2-2 draw.

Chambers (22) put Walsall ahead for the first time only for Thompson (78) to equalise for Scunthorpe late on. Grigg (83) restored the home sides lead but a late injury-time equaliser from Ryan (90+4) saw the game drawn.

Yeovil 2-3 Sheffield Wednesday
Yeovil came back from a goal down to lead 2-1 before slipping to a 3-2 home defeat against Sheffield Wednesday.

McGoldrick (10) gave Wednesday the lead but a double from Agard (28 & 38) equalised and then gave Yeovil a half time lead. Goals from Bennett (53) and Madine (72) in the 2nd half secured the points for The Owls though.
