League one round-up: 8th-10th October 2011
The latest weekend of the football league season has been and gone, the npower league one is rounded-up in this article.
Bournemouth 1-1 Rochdale
A tale of two penalties, both converted, meant that the points were shared between Bournemouth and Rochdale.
Jones' (30) successful first half penalty gave Rochdale the lead, which was held into half time. A little after midway through the second half a penalty from Symes (68) secured Bournemouth a 1-1 draw.
Bury 2-0 Exeter
Exeter slipped to another defeat as home advantage paid off for Bury.
Bishop's (14) first half goal and an own goal from Oakley (48) shortly after the break secured Bury a 2-0 win.
Carlisle 2-2 Brentford
A game that swung one way then the other ended with Carlisle and Brentford playing out a draw.
Brentford took the lead through Clarkson (9) but Carlisle were level before the break through Berrett (23). Clarkson (63) then scored an own goal to give the home side the lead but with time running out a goal from Diagouraga (88) secured a 2-2 draw.
Charlton 1-1 Tranmere
A late goal from Charlton denied Tranmere a win at The Valley.
McGurk's (33) goal looked like it was going to see Tranmere through to a win but a late penalty from Jackson (80) meant the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
Colchester 2-2 Yeovil
After recovering from a late setback Colchester had to eventually settle for a home draw against Yeovil.
Massey (1) gave Yeovil an instant lead but a goal from Bond (38) saw Colchester go into the break level.
The hosts then turned a deficit into a lead with Antonio (54) putting them ahead, but The U's had to settle for a point when Massey (63) scored again to see the game end in a 2-2 draw.
Huddersfield 2-1 Stevenage
With home advantage Huddersfield were able to beat Stevenage 2-1.
Roberts (44) gave Huddersfield the lead on the stroke of half time, but Stevenage levelled midway through the second half through Laird (67). The hosts were not to be denied though as a goal from Novak (76) won the game.
Scunthorpe 2-3 Leyton Orient
Leyton Orient edged out Scunthorpe in a five goal thriller at Glanford Park.
Barcham (31) put Scunthorpe ahead but two quick goals in the second half from Lisbie (46 & 50) put Leyton Orient ahead. Cuthbert (67) extended the visitors lead before Barcham (69) scored again, but this proved nothing more than a consolation as Orient held on to win 3-2.
Sheff Wed 3-1 Chesterfield
Sheffield Wednesday proved too strong for Chesterfield as they won 3-1 at Hillsborough.
Goals from Buxton (17) and Madine (59) in either half put the hosts in control before Clarke (79) gave Chesterfield hope late on. Victory for Wednesday was secured though when Marshall (87) scored.
Wycombe 1-1 Walsall
The points were shared between Wycombe and Walsall.
A goalless first half saw Strevens (49) break the deadlock for Wycombe although the hosts were denied victory when Nicholls (81) scored late on for Walsall to earn a 1-1 draw.
Notts County 3-0 Hartlepool
Sunday saw Notts Country secure the points with a 3-0 home win over Hartlepool.
A double, with goals in either half, from Hawley (29 & 55) send the home side on their way with Montano (90+1) adding an injury-time third.
Oldham 2-1 MK Dons
The Monday night TV cameras favoured home side Oldham more as they overcame MK Dons.
Just before the half time break Kuqi (43) gave Oldham the lead with Adeyemi (56) doubling the advantage soon after.
Morrison's (85) late goal was not enough for The Dons as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat.
