Tisdale - Not Everything Is In Our Hands
With some players yet to commit for the coming season, Paul Tisdale has assured fans that the club are doing all they can, but they can't force players to make a decision we want.
Speaking to the Official Site with Matt Oakley and Steve Tully yet to agree terms on the deals they have been offered, Tisdale took the step to remind fans that the club wants to be successful, but we can't go mad and risk our future by offering deals we can't afford.
'Matt hasn't signed yet, but he's come back to training and he wants to play for us. We've been very transparent over the last month or two that we'd like to sign him and we'll try to find a way. In very tough times, the club have been doing all they can to make it possible for me - so I'm hoping that will get done.'
As for Tully, Tisdale admits that funds could be an issue because similar to Jamie Cureton, the offer has had to be put aside at the moment.
'The club is doing everything they can to make funds available, but there's no guarantee that I'll be able to make that signing. Steve was in training with us yesterday and he'd not yet signed elsewhere, so it's be great if we could keep hold of him - but that's the way things are.'
Tisdale obviously made it clear in the interview that Tully could more than continue training with us whilst we tried to sort out his future, but you sense there's a resignation that he knows we'll lose him.
He also admitted that we are trialing David Wheeler who spent last season at Staines, and he describes him as a bright guy having gained a 2.1 in sports science at Brunel University.
