The days opening goal scorer, Aaron Davies has said that following his goal for about five minutes he didn't quite know where he was.
Davies more than played his part in a fantastic three one victory, not least, as he opened the scoring and helped give his Exeter colleagues a second wind in the derby match today, but speaking to the Official Site following the game, the midfielder had to admit that his goal came as such a shock to him and filled him with such emotions that he feels it took him about five minutes to recover from it and remember where he was, and more importantly what he meant to be doing on the pitch.
'For the five minutes after it, I didn't really know where I was! It was euphoria, I was ecstatic, the emotions...I was celebrating in front of the fans, and my dad was here, so it meant the world to me.'
Davies admits that once he scored, he really did have to work on getting his legs going again and retuning his focus to the match because it really took it out of him because it just felt so good.
Almost forgivable in that situation isn't it, he says it was a good day at the office for him personally, and for the team, but it certainly was the fans who he describes as 'going berserk' with him.
'Winning on derby day is what it's all about.'
Like in the manager's interview, the player was also full of praise for Plymouth's goal and their goalscorer Young, because it was a great finish, but the delight following that for Davies was how his Exeter colleagues redoubled their efforts to ensure they came away with all three points come the final whistle.
He also said that with the character in the camp and the attitude of the manager and the staff, whilst everybody will be lauding it up this weekend - their might even be a little tipple involved to celebrate - come Monday, it's back to the grindstone and everyone will put this behind them and start preparing for the game against Hartlepool.
Nobody will get too carried away, it has to remain one game at a time.
