Baldwin - Football Is About Small Margins

Baldwin - Football Is About Small Margins

Centre half Pat Baldwin has said football is a game of fine margins, and that proved to be the case when we lost our FA Cup first round match against Peterborough.

Echoing the thoughts of manager Paul Tisdale, Baldwin told the Official Site that we simply lacked a cutting edge in the game last weekend and that was the only real difference in the sides as we just didn't create enough chances, and then do enough with the chances we did create - apart from that he also feels we more than matched them in every other department.

'We felt comfortable and we were trusting each other and we were on the same page, but we lacked that bit of threat in the final third.'

Baldwin goes on to say that in the second half Peterborough upped the tempo which we knew they would do given they were the home side and our change in formation unfortunately gave them more space wide and they exploited that. We knew the game would open up though and when it did we hoped we'd be the ones to capitalise on it, but sadly it was them who snuck their necks in front, and from a defensive point of view, he says the opener was a disappointing goal to concede.

No FA Cup run this season, so it's all eyes onto the next game now against Southend United where we'll attempt to get back to winning ways.
