We Need To Get More Stuck In
Manager Paul Tisdale has said that the players need to get stuck in more after seeing us fall to a two nil defeat to Southend yesterday.
Despite the loss Tisdale admits he's not going to get too carried away with things even though it is three defeats on the bounce in the league now, because put simply we are in a bit of a dip but remain only five points off top spot given how well we have done so far this campaign.
An obvious concern for Tisdale though was that the loss to Southend didn't see a good performance, and other disappointments so far this campaign have at least yielded positive.
Speaking to the Official Site following the game, the gaffer explained that especially yesterday we need individuals to stand up and be counted to get us back to winning ways.
'They're all good chaps, I want them all to do well and I believe in all of them. But as a group we have to do better. The contribution as a group whether attacking, thinking...you name it - we've got to have an even spread so we've got players doing the same thing at the same time.'
Tisdale says that lately he feels the group has become disconnected from each other in terms of their performances on the pitch and he knows it's his job to get them back together and on the same page, but he has faith they will respond and it's just the nature of football that these things do happen during a season.
As Tisdale is prone to lengthy interviews and metaphors himself, telling he says 'maybe it's all a bit too considered and they need to get stuck into it a bit more.'
As for the performance itself, he describes our first half performance as being 'dreadful' and although the players gave it a good go in the second period of the game we had given ourselves way too much to do.
Moving forward the gaffer comments that nobody can take their places for granted because he's going to be picking people based on form and not names or experience levels because ultimately he's responsible for picking a team that can produce results and at the moment we aren't doing that.
