Victory More Important Than Three Points

Manager Paul Tisdale has described our three two victory over Accrington Stanley last weekend as being far more important for the club than simply three points.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game, Tisdale talked about the game as holding 'value and importance' well beyond three points given the psychological boost it will provide the players given our run of form in the league in recent times.

Exeter obviously took a three goal lead in the game, but Accrington did fight back admirably and the gaffer believes withstanding that fightback to keep hold of those extra two points will be massive for us moving forward.

'We didn't make it easy, but I would have been surprised had it become easy. Even with three goals, when you play here they can really turn the heat up and they did that. It was a terrific game and I'm so pleased we won it - it was a big win.'

Tisdale went on to talk about our 'rotten' November and how much of a boost this victory will be after our recent couple of draws brought an end to our losing streak, and most importantly for him, not conceding the equaliser despite their pressure means we will grow in belief and stature again and that's exactly what we need to do - so on that score the three points is a bonus as we approach the coming games.

Another positive for the gaffer will have been the number of youngsters he had out on display in the game, and the experience they will have gained from a match like that will be invaluable in their continued development.

A good win like that, with five starting youngsters from our Academy really will boost spirits.
