Gill Pens Permanent Deal
Exeter have announced that midfielder Matt Gill has provisionally signed a permanent deal that will come into force in January.
Gill was previously at the club back in 2006 to 2009 and rejoined us on loan from Bristol Rovers back in October.
His loan spell runs until January 1st leaving him in contention for the New Year's Day game against Wycombe Wanderers. His parent club have confirmed that on January 2nd his contract with them will be cancelled by mutual consent, so his new contract with us will commence on the same day.
Speaking to the Official Site after the announcement was made, Gill said he was obviously delighted to return to the club on a permanent basis as he's loved it since he returned.
'Tis gave me the opportunity to come back and play and I've really enjoyed it. It has been an ideal scenario for me to come back to somewhere that has been familiar with lots of friendly faces around the place, so to sign a permanent deal is great.'
Gill adds that hopefully having the contract out of the way now it means he can more than play his part in what will hopefully be a promotion push, as despite the poor run we have been on of late, he knows there are lots of points left to play for and we are only 10 points off top spot, so everything is close enough for us to have a really good stab at it in the second part of the season.
