Following our scoreless draw with Oxford United last night, manager Paul Tisdale has hailed the team for a proper performance against them.
Exeter were certainly on the ball on the night and by rights should've come out with all three points had it not been for the form of Oxford's goalkeeper as whilst they did have chances of their own, Artur Krysiak wasn't really tested over the course of 90 minutes.
Of huge delight for the gaffer though was our keeping of a clean sheet, the first one we have kept since we last played Oxford back in October.
Speaking to the Official Site following the game, Tisdale explained.
'I'm very pleased with their effort and commitment. It was a proper team out there today. Despite the results of late, they showed no signs of wilting. I'm delighted for the clean sheet of course, because it's something we've not had for a long time and we worked very hard for it. So I'm pleased with a point and I'm very pleased with the performance.'
Tisdale says that whilst we could've cursed our luck from the crosses in the game against Wimbledon, today we responded the right way and cut out the crosses so there was no threat, and we worked very hard indeed to limit them to speculative efforts on our goal, and he can't praise the team enough for giving their all over the 90 minutes.
What counts for the gaffer now though is we show those same commitment levels when we face Burton Albion, and we keep doing the basic stuff well because we have given ourselves a platform to build from again. Work hard to keep the clean sheet, and then we have the opportunity to take the game with a single goal at the other end.
Tisdale also welcomed back Matt Oakley to the match day squad following his injury, and whilst he admits that he's no where near fit enough to start games, he is an option at the end of games again now where we need that bit of experience, and of course he plays his part in the dressing room also and the gaffer credits the work he put in with Matt Grimes given his performance on the night.
