Debutant Delighted With Portsmouth Draw
New loanee striker Eliot Richards has said he was delighted with his debut for the club in the draw against Portsmouth and he feels the way we play really suits his own individual style.
The 22 year old Welshman only joined on Friday in a loan deal that saw Alan Gow move in the opposite direction to Bristol Rovers and he made his appearance as a substitute at half time as Exeter were looking to get back on level terms within the game.
Speaking to the Official Site following the game, he said he was confident that he would soon find the net for us.
'I think my footballing style suits Exeter down to the ground. It's about getting the ball on the ground and passing which is what I like to do, and hopefully score some goals. I've got a good record and I like coming down to play on this pitch as it's normally really good. Unfortunately I didn't get that goal (today) but hopefully I will get a few more towards the end of the season.'
As fans will remember he has already scored twice on our St James' Park patch for Rovers.
Although he didn't find the goal himself on the day, he did play his part in helping during the build up to Liam Sercombe's equaliser in the dying second of the match, and even though he hasn't been with us for very long at all, he's said that he can already see the spirit within the group and the determination they have to turn around results and have them going in our favour, so he's looking forward to playing his own part in helping us to achieve that.
Of course the loan move is until the end of the season, and nothing has been decided yet but he knows he is also potentially playing for a future with us.
'Hopefully if I do well and Exeter want to keep me, they'll be more than welcome.'
