Bergqvist Cancels Contract

Bergqvist Cancels Contract

Exeter have today announced that the contract of centre half Doug Bergqvist has been mutually terminated.

He has now left the club and will travel to Sweden to sign for Ostersunds FK as a free agent, signing a two year deal in the process.

The 20 year old joined us in the summer from recently relegated Aldershot Town, and although he hadn't figured once for us, he had spent time out on loan with Welling where he made 20 appearances for them, scoring twice.

Speaking to the Official Site about his departure, manager Paul Tisdale said that with how things stand financially for the club at this very moment in time there are no guarantees whatsoever that the club will be in a position to offer him a suitable contract to keep him beyond 2013-14.

'It is with great reluctance that we have allowed Doug to leave. It would be difficult to stand in the way of this new opportunity and we wish him well at his new club.'

Tisdale adds that he is very grateful to him for all the hard work he put in after joining us, and Exeter are thankful to Welling for giving him much needed game time to improve himself as a player, and the gaffer thinks he'll have a very good future ahead of him as he was one for the future in his mind.
