First Of Many For Eliot

First Of Many For Eliot

Newbie Eliot Richards has said that he hopes his goal against Southend United will be the first of many for Exeter.

Richards first goal for the club since joining us from Bristol Rovers came in the 87th minute and proved to be the key to all three points for us yesterday.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game Eliot said that Exeter got off to a very good start by getting our noses in front, but like everyone, he was disappointed to see us then concede two goals and go in at half time losing.

'But we managed to get back and deserved the win. I think we created more chances than they did in the game, but we didn't put them away in the first half, but in the second Liam scored a superb goal and luckily I got the winner just before the end.'

Richards goes on to say that obviously he's hoping to add to his tally of six goals for the season now by scoring far more than just the one for us whilst he's here, but as ever for a striker, it's vital they get that first goal because it gets it out the way and lifts pressure even if you try not to put yourself under any.

At the start of the season, despite not expecting to go on loan, Eliot says he set himself a target of ten strikes, so he's looking for at least four - if not more - as the weeks go by.

With the Portsmouth game out of the way, Richards says we now have three winnable games in front of our own fans and that's going to be the aim, nine from a possible nine, and for Exeter to shoot up the league table again.
