'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Bennett & Sercs Talk Brazil

New skipper Scot Bennett and midfielder Liam Sercombe have both talked about the experience against Fluminense in Brazil.

Speaking to the Official Site first, Captain Bennett explained.

'It was all a bit different, we came out and had to stand around while they did speeches and then have the national anthems players - it was a bit different to what we were used to but it was good for the experience. It was was an enjoyable one - I think all the boys enjoyed it and we'll remember that day for a long time.'

It also marked a special occasion for Bennett, it was his first game in charge as official skipper following his promotion over the summer, and with agreement made that a draw would see Exeter parade the trophy that was on offer, it was Bennett who walked to collect it.

'It was a bit mad, cameras coming at your all at once and in your face, and then different people asking different questions from different directions, and then asking you to turn around - it was a bit crazy for me - I'm not really used to that!'

Sercombe's main focus, as mentioned by Bennett in the full interview also, was the effort of the fan to follow the team out there, so he added.

'We have good fans anyway - they always travel around England and come with numbers and make a good atmosphere for us. We knew our fans would be top class and for them to come all this way to support us - I can't really explain how to thank them. It was quality from them.'

As for the game itself he added that it was a tough encounter and they played in a way we weren't used to, so from the fitness outlook it would've done us wonders ahead of the League 2 campaign in 2014-15.
