Exeter 0-2 Torquay

Exeter 0-2 Torquay

Manager Paul Tisdale's Exeter team went down two nil to Torquay in our final pre season friendly of the summer.

Goals came from Ryan Bowman and Jordan Chapell and despite our best efforts that was enough to separate the sides at full time.

Tisdale used the fixture to give started to trialists Graham Cummins and Christian Ribeiro, along with U18 midfielder Alex Byrne, with Matt Oakley taking the captain's armband on the day.

Speaking to the official site following the game, the manager explained that he felt we didn't quite have the spark we normally did.

'It was a dull day in training yesterday and it's gone into today, and sometimes you've just got to accept that. We lacked spark today and it was a legacy of what we've just been through, but I've not been too critical of the players. We got a lot wrong in the first half, we neither went forward, we didn't pass enough, we didn't tackle enough and although it was only a fraction away from being right, it went all to pot.'

Tisdale goes on to say that he felt we were better second half and a lot more composed on the ball, but ironically it was the second half where we lost both goals but obviously the positives for him are it's more minutes for the players and he liked what he saw from the two trialists again.
