Nicholls Signs Short Term Loan
Exeter City have today brought in Northampton Town striker Alex Nicholls on a short term loan deal.
The 26 year old joined Northampton from Walsall back in 2012, and was in fine form before suffering a broken leg in a game against Port Vale,
After lengthy rehab the player is now fit and has a pre season behind him, making a return to competitive action for the Sixfield's outfit in their Capital One Cup game against Bournemouth.
He has been handed the No 23 shirt, and could make his debut against Mansfield Town this weekend.
Speaking to the Official Site after his move was announced, Nicholls admitted that being on the bench last weekend for our game against them - with the full knowledge that the move was likely to go through - was a little bit strange, especially as he'd already spent some time training with us ahead of the match.
But football is a funny old game.
'I spent a couple of days training with the Exeter lads the week before so I knew all the lads there on Saturday. It was very strange and obviously I was contracted to Northampton, so if I had been thrown on at the weekend I would have tried my best for them.'
Now he's here he admits he's very pleased that the deal has gone through as he's been impressed with Steve Perryman and Paul Tisdale, and the lads were very welcoming whilst he was training with us, so he can't wait to get going now and hopefully show his own fitness following his own problems but also help us to start picking up some good results along the way.
