EFL Awards 2017 Shortlists Revealed

The Football League have now confirmed the shortlists for the awards categories for this years EFL Awards.

The annual awards ceremony takes place in London on Sunday April 9 and there are numerous awards categories for clubs, manager, players and even fans for those in the Championship, League One and League Two.

As ever the 14 awards categories to mark the 2016/17 campaign include Player of the Season, Young Player of the Season, Team of the Season, Player in the Community, Supporter of the Year, Family Club of the Year, Community Club of the Year, Apprentice of the Year, Goal of the Year and the Sir Tom Finney and Contribution to League Football Award.

EFL Chief Executive Shaun Harvey is quoted by the efl.com as saying of this years' shortlists.

'It`s been an exciting and action-packed 12 months for the EFL both on and off the pitch. There have been some incredible individual and team performances across the three divisions, entertaining the millions of fans who follow the EFL week in, week out. Off the pitch our clubs continue to have a positive and lasting impact in their local communities, using the power of football to deliver life-changing programmes and activities. The EFL Awards are a fantastic way to recognise the achievements of clubs, players, back room staff and fans and I would like to personally congratulate everyone who has been nominated and wish them all the best on the night itself.'

So without further ado or wibble, here are the all important shortlists.

Sky Bet Championship Player of the Season:
Chris Wood - Leeds United
Dwight Gayle - Newcastle United
Anthony Knockaert - Brighton & Hove Albion

Sky Bet League One Player of the Season:
Billy Sharp - Sheffield United
Josh Morris - Scunthorpe United
John Fleck - Sheffield United

Sky Bet League Two Player of the Season:
John Marquis - Doncaster Rovers
James Coppinger - Doncaster Rovers
Danny Hylton - Luton Town

EFL Young Player of the Season:
John Swift - Reading
Ryan Ledson - Oxford United
Ollie Watkins - Exeter City

Football Manager Team of the Season:

Sir Tom Finney and Contribution to League Football Awards:

PFA Player in the Community:

Zoe Edge - Chesterfield

Nickelodeon Family Club of the Year - Championship:

Brighton & Hove Albion

Nickelodeon Family Club of the Year - League One:
Millwall
MK Dons

Nickelodeon Family Club of the Year - League Two:

Stevenage

Voting is open until midnight tonight. The top five most-voted for goals will be revealed on the night of the Awards with the audience voting for the overall winner.

Some clubs are well represented in the shortlists this year given the campaigns they are having, but there will be fans of clubs who don't feature who will feel a bit miffed at missing out and undoubtedly will have their own picks who should've featured that don't.
