Sweeney In Team Of The Week (10/10/17)

Sweeney In Team Of The Week (10/10/17)

Exeter City are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week's action.

The performance by Pierce Sweeney in the one nil victory over Carlisle United at the weekend at Brunton Park was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we'll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Sweeney was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice - the FL blurb read.

'Exeter returned to the top of the Sky Bet League Two table thanks to a hard-earned 1-0 win at Carlisle United. Sweeney and the rest of the Grecians' back line were outstanding, and the Irishman capped off his performance with the winning goal at Brunton Park.'

It's always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Sweeney for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Dave Richards (Crewe Alexandra), Dan Potts (Luton Town), Dan Burn (Wigan Athletic), Richard Wood (Rotherham United), Pierce Sweeney (Exeter City), Ebere Eze (Wycombe Wanderers), Jake Reeves (Bradford City), Sean Murray (Colchester United), Ben Whiteman (Doncaster Rovers), James Henry (Oxford United), Ellis Harrison (Bristol Rovers).

Manager - Darrell Clarke (Bristol Rovers).
