Exeter City vs. Shrewsbury Town

St James Park

City seek Pot win at Park

City play Shrewsbury in the first round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy looking for a win to start rebuilding our record at Fortress St James Park.

With reduced admission prices and free entry for kids, it should be a good atmosphere down at the Park.

Vital Quotes:

'We need to start winning at home', say City fans everywhere.

'League Two's the priority, do we need to even bother?', ask some.

'Probably not', reply the rest, 'But winning's a good habit to get'.

'Fair enough', we all agree. 'Best get down there then. Fancy a pint?'

'Ah go on, you've twisted my arm. Get us a bag of cheese and onion while you're there mate...'

Exeter City Team News:

We think City will go with a fairly strong side, and we wouldn't be surprised to see Tiz have a try with two up front.

Player to watch: Jack Obersteller

With George Friend having left for the golden sandy beaches of Wolverhampton, it's time for City's summer signing Jack to step up to the, err, left-back plate. Whatever one of those is.

Shrewsbury Town Team News:

There's only one name we'll be looking for on their team sheet. After his match winning performance last month, will on loan West Brom keeper Luke Daniels keep his place?

Player to watch: Luke Daniels

As above. If Daniels plays, we ain't gonna score! However, we think he might miss out to give the other lad a chance.

Anorak Corner

City's last win in this competition was away to Oxford. We were in the Conference and the yellows were in League Two. And, as with the later famous play-off semi, the Grecians won it on penalties.

City have twice been one game from Wembley in this competition. Port Vale and Bristol City beat us in the Southern Area finals.

It's Shrewsbury not Shro-sbury. Really, We checked...

Match Prediction:

2-0 to City. At least one will be a penalty.

Next Fixtures:

It's three home games in a week, with Accrington Stanley at the Park on Saturday.
