Exeter eventually edged past Aldershot in a topsy-turvy encounter at St James Park.
Neil Saunders' superb curling free-kick put the Grecians into a vital lead with ten minutes to go which they eventually hung onto thanks to a vital diving save from Paul Jones.
Marcus Stewart opened the scoring on the half-hour as his volley squeezed past Alec McCarthy and the Grecians created plenty more chances for Stansfield and Logan as they looked to extend their comfortable lead.
But it looked like Tisdale's Aldershot hoodoo would go on when Aldershot stunned the home crowd with two goals in 5 minutes after half-time to put the Shot 2-1 up.
But an own goal from Harding equalized for the Grecians before Saunders struck his second goal of the week with a Beckham-esque right footed free kick.
