Exeter City came from behind to record a crucial 3-1 victory over Hartlepool United which moves them up to 13th in League 1.
Goals from Ryan Harley, Stuart Fleetwood, and James Dunne ensured a second home win on the season for the Grecians. A defensive mix up mid way through the first half saw the visitors take the lead. A long ball made Matt Taylor turn, and he headed passed the on-rushing Oscar Jansson to leave Denis Behan to tap into an empty net.
However, Exeter responded, and crucially got an equaliser before halftime. Marcus Stewart hit the post with a shot and Harley scored from the rebound.
The Grecians took the lead when Stuart Fleetwood saw a ball fall to him in space, and he checked inside the defender before scoring with his right foot off the underside of the bar. Hartlepool did threaten to take home a point but Jansson did well to save from a low twenty five yard free kick, and also from a header from the resulting cross back into the box.
James Dunne ensured the points for the home side with a superb right foot strike on the half volley in stoppage time which flew into the left hand corner. It wasn`t finished there as centre back Troy Archibald Henville almost scored a fourth with a close range effort, which was tipped onto the bar.
This victory is an important one for the Grecians, as we have two away trips to Huddersfield and Walsall coming up before our next league game at St. James Park against Wycombe in two weeks time. However, first up is a home tie against Swindon Town in the Johnstones Paint Trophy
