Exeter City comfortably beat Brentford 3-0 at St. James Park this afternoon to move three points clear of the relegation zone.
Bertie Cozic, Steve Tully, and Craig Noone scored the goals which gave the Grecians a much needed victory ahead of three away games.
The visitors had the better of the opening exchanges, but Bertie Cozic put Exeter ahead on seven minutes when his 20 yard shot took a slight deflection into the back of the net.
City had conceded on the stroke of half time in both the last two away matches to trail 2-0 at the break at Huddersfield and Walsall, but it was the Grecians themselves who went 2-0 up on the stroke of half time. Steve Tully crashed a volley from Craig Noone`s freekick in off the underside of the bar, to score his first goal for the club.
Craig Noone put the match to bed midway through the second half with an accomplished strike into the right hand corner from just outside the area. The only blemish in an excellent afternoon for all connected with Exeter, was the sending off of Marcus Stewart for a second yellow with just under twenty minutes to go. However, Brentford were too far behind with too little time left to make an impact, and City eased to a fourth victory of the season.
