Exeter City suffered their first home defeat of the season going down 4-2 against in a goal fest at St James` Park.
Level at 1-1 at half time City suffered a mad 10 minutes in the second period that saw them concede a further 3 times before Jamie Cureton grabbed a late consolation.
City were behind as early as the fourth minute when Leon Legge`s innocuous header from a corner was too much for Paul Jones in The Grecian`s goal.
City were level though midway through the first half. Jamie Cureton latched on to Ryan Harley`s through ball and neatly slotted home.
Brentford retook the lead midway through the second period. Gary Alexander the score as City once again failed to deal with a corner. Alexander was first to react to a knockdown as city defenders hesitated.
Two minutes later and Brentford all but wrapped up the points when Sam Wood somehow beat Jones to a ball that the keeper should have made his own to slide the ball into the vacant net.
Charlie MacDonald added a fourth goal soon after, slotting past Jones following some good work in midfield as City self destructed.
Cureton nodded in a long throw to reduce the deficit to 4-2 but it was too little too late for the home side.
Rash tackles in the box from Jake Thomson and Troy Archibald-Henville both resulted in late penalties .But Brentford missed the chances to pile more misery on the home side, Jones saved both spot kicks in one of the keepers more eventful afternoons, not that the saves affected the result as The Bees still ran out comfortable winners in a mad game of football.
City line-up: P Jones, Duffy, Archibald-Henville, B Jones, Tully (Thomson), Golbourne, Dunne, Sercombe, Harley (Noble), O`flynn (Cureton), Logan
Unused subs: Krysiak, Edwards, Cozic, Stewart
